In all the excitement of new babies, we can’t forget the older goats! Pac-Man is always amusing us with his rolling and scratching antics. Half the time he looks like a colicky horse the way he paws, rolls, twists, and stretches out on the ground. Today he was plowing his head into the grass. “What? … Continue reading Now for the big kids! →
I think this may become an annual tradition. The weatherman predicted 3-5 inches of snow last night. He was a little off. It’s hard to say exactly how much we got because by the time I went out there and started taking pictures it had slumped down to about 4-8 inches (depending on where you were … Continue reading Christmas in May…Again! →
Phil and I spent the weekend in Greeley at the Weld County Goat Extravaganza where we set up a packgoat information display and did an hour-long presentation. We took Cuzco, Pac-Man, Finn, and Sputnik and we had a great time! Phil says my presentation went well. I did the talk while he managed the four … Continue reading Weld County Goat Extravaganza! →
Snickers is a yearling working goat prospect with an excellent, happy-go-lucky attitude and a desire to please. He knows his name and a few basic commands. He leaps into the truck bed when asked, leads and ties well, stands for hoof trimming, and knows a few tricks. He is also beginning to learn how to … Continue reading Snickers →
We had a foot of snow last night on top of the foot we already had, and we plowed and shoveled it away just in time for it to start snowing again. I think we’re supposed to get another foot tonight. Whew! Pac-Man helped me haul water out to the boys’ pen tonight. I loaded … Continue reading Snow Day! →
And let’s not forget dear, sweet Nubbin. I dried her off a few weeks ago, and she should be about half-way through her pregnancy now. She’s due May 2nd. Someone asked me last week how her tail got broken. Well, it never did (or else it came broken) because it’s had that kink in it … Continue reading And a few extras… →
Finn is trying to catch up to Pac-Man in size. He just had a major growth spurt, but I’m pretty sure Pac-Man is going to grow a lot this spring too. In fact, I would not be surprised if Pac-Man ended up being substantially bigger than Cuzco. But big as he is, he’s the gentlest, … Continue reading Odds and ends →
Next we played on the water trailer… …And the bridge. Finn uses it as a stage to practice the fine art of looking noble. He watches Cuzco carefully for tips and tricks. Oh no!! We had a tragedy on the bridge! Sputnik appears to have conked out mid-crossing! Oh wait, he’s just acting like an … Continue reading Improvised goat toys →
Our first “goat activity” of the day: We played on spools. Movie magic: With a spool and the right camera angle, we can make everyone think Snickers is standing on Pac-Man and Sputnik! Synchronized spool-top dancing.
Finn is having a growth spurt. He and Snickers often compete for “tallest 2014 kid,” but Finn just shot into the lead. He’s looking quite manly in this photo, but that is all going to change next week. He might be sad, but Phil and I will not miss the bad habits and rich aroma! … Continue reading An outing with the youngsters →
